Aikido of South Flórida – Estágio de Hitohira Saito 2011.

Primeiro e mais antes que eu gostaria de aproveitar a oportunidade para enviar as minhas condolências às famílias das vítimas do terramoto e tsunami este fim de semana passado, bem como a muitas pessoas afectadas por este desastre. Espero que a ajuda necessária seja fornecida o mais rapidamente possível e que todos sejam capazes de se unir a nível mundial para ajudar o Japão, neste tempo de crise.
Como todos bem sabem, este fim de semana passado, 12-13 março, o Aikido do Sul da Flórida hospedou Hitohiro Saito Sensei, enquanto acontecia esta catástrofe japonesa.
Sensei chegou à Flórida na quinta-feira e parecia estar muito bem humorado, descontraído e feliz por estar de volta, na Flórida. Quinta-feira manteve-se uma noite de conversa íntima acompanhada de pernil de cordeiro e lagosta viva que acabou de madrugada. Às 7:00 eu já estava ciente da catástrofe no Japão e rapidamente despertei Sensei para lhe dar esta notícia devastadora. Sensei despertou e calmamente começou a assistir à série de eventos na CNN, ao mesmo tempo que bebia a sua usual sopa de miso matinal. Após vários minutos de assistir ao noticiário, composto e não perturbado por tudo isso, Sensei simplesmente comentou que esta catástrofe foi simplesmente misogi (purificação).
Naturalmente ele quis contactar a sua família para verificar se eles estavam em casa sãos e salvos, mas rapidamente descobriu que isto tomaria tempo, pois as linhas telefônicas estavam cortadas e o único que se poderia fazer é esperar. E esperar foi o que fizemos. Demorou quase dois dias até conseguir contactar a sua família. Ainda sabendo que a sua família e seu país estavam continuamente a sofrer novos terramotos e, apesar de não poder comunicar-se com eles, Sensei quis continuar o seu dia como o planejado e assim fomos descontraidamente passear para a praia de Hollywood durante a tarde e continuamos com o programa, como previsto.
Sensei deu um estágio absolutamente fenomenal para uma multidão de participantes que vieram de 16 estados e de seis países! Isso foi impressionante. Durante o último dia do estágio, Sensei gentilmente pediu para dar um treino especial (special keiko) o produto do qual seria para ajudar as vítimas da catástrofe. Todos participaram e também se fizeram doações extras. O que achei verdadeiramente surpreendente e tão inspirador no fim de semana não foi só a alta energia dos participantes, a festa da noite de sábado, com dançarinas de hula e fogo, as grandes amizades que foram feitas e outras reacendidas, ou até as contínuas noites de conversa interessantíssimas, mas sim a forma como Sensei conseguiu passar por todo o calvário de forma tranquila. Durante o estágio, Sensei esteve em plena forma proporcionando muita energia e espírito uma grande variedade de técnicas que, simplesmente, teve todos os participantes totalmente energizados com entusiasmo.
Ele foi incrivelmente inspirador. Em nenhum momento ele sempre pareceu que preferiria estar noutro lugar que não aqui, na Flórida, para este estágio. Nós todos sentimos que ele queria estar aqui e esteve totalmente presente para ensinar, e que ele estava feliz de estar aqui no momento presente, com a oportunidade de compartilhar os ensinamentos de O'Sensei. Ser capaz de experimentar tudo isso com Sensei, percebi-me ainda mais do quanto pessoa incrível e mentor ele realmente é, e como estou grata e como estou feliz por tê-lo como meu professor.

Aikido of South Florida Hitohira Saito Seminar 2011.
First and fore most I would like to take the opportunity to send my condolences to the families of the victims lost in the earthquake and tsunami this past week end, as well as the many people this disaster has affected. I am hoping that the necessary aid needed will be provided as soon as possible and that we all will be able to globally unite and come to aid Japan in this time of crisis. As you are all well aware, this past weekend, March 12-13, Aikido of South Florida hosted Hitohiro Saito Sensei, during the wake of the Japanese catastrophe. Sensei arrived in Florida on Thursday and appeared to be in extremely great humor, relaxed and glad to be back in Florida. Thursday remained an intimate night of conversation accompanied by leg of lamb and lobster brisk that lead easily into the early morning. At 7:00 am I was made aware of the catastrophe in Japan and quickly awakened Sensei to relay this devastating news. Sensei wakened and calmly began to watch the series of events on CNN while drinking his early morning miso soup. After several minutes of watching the news, composed and unruffled by it all, Sensei simply commented that this disaster was simply MISOGI. Naturally he wanted to contact his family to verify that they were home safe and sound, but we quickly found out the that possibility would be delayed as the phone lines were down, and wait we did. It would be almost two days before he made contact with his family.Despite knowing his family and country were experiencing the continuous after shocks, enduring the additional elements of the disaster and without communication from them, Sensei wanted to continue his day as planned and we leisurely went to Hollywood beach for the afternoon and proceeded onward as scheduled. Sensei gave an absolutely phenomenal seminar to a crowd of participants that hailed from 16 states and 6 countries! This was impressive. During the last day of the seminar, Sensei graciously requested to teach a special keiko in which the proceeds would be given to aid the victims of the catastrophe. Everyone participated and addition donations were made.What I found truly amazing and so inspirational during the weekend was not the high energy of the participants, the Saturday night party with hula and fire dancers, the great friends were made and some rekindled, or the continuous nights of incredible conversation, but rather the way Sensei managed himself throughout the ordeal in such a tranquil manner. Throughout the seminar, Sensei was in full form providing great energy and spirit with a great assortment of techniques that simply had the participants fully energized with excitement. He was incredibly inspirational. At no moment did it ever appear that he would rather be somewhere else other than here in Florida for this seminar. We all felt that he wanted to be here and was fully present to teach and that he was happy to be here in the present moment for the opportunity to share O’Sensei’s teachings. Being able to experience this all with Sensei made me realized how much more of an incredible person and mentor he truly is, and how grateful and fortunate I am to have him as my teacher.
